What is IACUC?
IACUC stands for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, which is tasked with overseeing research that involves animal subjects.

Who is a part of IACUC?
The composition of IACUC is defined by recommendations from the Public Health Service Policy. Accordingly, the University of Richmond must have at least 5 members, and should include:
- An attending veterinarian
- A practicing scientist
- One member who represent the community interests in proper care and use of animals (not affiliated with UR).
- One member whose primary concerns are in nonscientific areas.

What animals are regulated?
Vertebrate subjects are typically regulated by IACUC. Field studies that involve vertebrate subjects will also require IACUC approval.
